Generals in an army take
Such liberties with lives,
They do their work, and thus defend
The all, of which Man strives

To keep solely for himself,
To store, and lock away,
To keep from others ever more,
To hide from light of day.

Difficult the outer seaming,
Naught is simple fry,
But when it comes to tough decisions
About whom will live or die,

Who would, really, at a whim,
Take on a role so far
Removed from centre focus,
If not to be a star?
