Uganda

Cattle herding, of purpose known,
To be as One thus caged,
Meagre to the outer seeming,
But sacred, in heart, thus aged.

What it means to hold a symbol
High and bold in mind,
To sacrifice, of yesteryear,
A life which does then bind

All of men to better works,
To prove our lion’s pride,
To show we are invincible,
And rule the earth thus wide.

But what of animals below
Who serve us to the end of time?
Their wisdom and their grace is daunting,
And echo in our hearts sublime.
