Ivory Coast
Fishing in the dawning ocean,
Look out to see a time,
When all the jewels upon the floor
Would glimmer in a rhyme
Natural, and of illusion
Romantic in the evening air,
Listening to the seashells singing,
Rustling in the alcove there.
But now of rusty memory, fading,
Naught can stem the ocean tide,
Changes thus are brought to bear
Upon an island wide.
Take a stand with faith renewed,
Count not the cost in time,
Nor seek counsel for the dollars,
But complete of Heaven’s dime.
