To know oneself and truly love one’s flaws takes great patience and persistence, humility and will. In theory, at least, the notion is simplicity itself. Why should one not have admiration for oneself?
After all, one has lived for many years, and survived the onslaught of a myriad hates and fears. And one has demonstrated the ability to feel, and occasionally to thus extend a loving favour to a friend. Talents honed have been contributed, and experience has been shared.
To survive this world, and one’s own life, is no mean feat, and each of us has stories manifold of success and defeat, a repertoire of anecdotes which, together, form the mould of who we are, and have been, past, and how our personality takes hold.
Do not underestimate the life you live. No matter how simply successive days are strung together there will always be a uniqueness to your story. Your perspective will be yours, and yours alone. Keep strong in the knowledge that you are at one with all and everyone, and there are no mistakes under the beating sun.
Take a moment now to summarise yourself. Make each column of attributes desirable, and not so, equal in length. Work hard to find the few remaining in this regard, and you will, in no time at all, have learned a little more about yourself. A simple exercise, and harmless at end of day, but every small step taken towards self knowledge sets you free.
Take to finding similar ways to know your deepest truth, and before long you will have explored timeless space, and found your way back home to the sanctuary of self; loving, universal, unconditional, and at peace.
