The wonder years are often remembered fondly as a time when innocence was high, and freedom reigned, enabling adventures wild. But history has a tendency to become romanticised, and in reality the wonder years represent present time.
If one merely lingered in the past, and viewed a time back then as the best years of one’s life, what a waste of present time and living that would be. And why should not the present and imminent future represent a closer approximation of the achievement of one’s hopes and dreams? If all one has to live for has long passed then there is no sense at all in that.
Your life is what you make it, and yes there are challenges at every turn. But keeping plans and working ever slowly towards their unfoldment is part of your pact with life. Forget your past. It is not, and never was, as you remember it now. In fact, if truth would tell, there would be as many hurts and disappointments as causes for celebration; much as life is for you now.
Get up and make a difference. Help another in greater need. There is no pity for selfishness and greed. Ultimately you alone will have to make a choice, to wake up and move on, or remain without a voice, trapped in an illusion that doesn’t exist, with meaningless memories of pleasantness.
You are stronger than this, and have so much yet to do. Begin today in earnest to fulfil your dreams anew. At end of day there is no-one but yourself who is responsible for the wealth of your creation, the benefit of your life. You have a rare gift, now give it life.
