Commitment need never be a burden, or else we become a slave to that very thing we did agree to serve. And so it is with relationships, with jobs and hobbies too. Commitment doesn’t mean one loses a balanced point of view.
Take a moment to place in mind all that makes your day, the people you interact with, the occupations you undertake. Look at all these elements and see them interact. Are there any areas lacking attention or which overwhelm your sense of self? Do you make the time for all expressions of yourself?
For you are not your relationship, nor indeed your job. You are not your children, or your dog. You are an individual with needs and wants which are unique to you alone, you are a shining star.
Take a day to rest alone, tranquil with yourself. Pamper yourself with little luxuries and inner wealth. Be content and peaceful and think not of yesterday, nor plan ahead for future times which can wait another day. Do this every now and then and you will thus restore your very being to a place of centered focus, core to your longevity and sanity and health.
Commit, without hesitation, to a lifetime of self. Then, and only then, will you have something to share which is true and lasting, and of higher order fair. You will never sacrifice your inner peace without a need. You will live a blissful life, completely freed from all the self imposed restrictions we so often unconsciously apply. There will be only opportunity and creative joy.
So understand commitment for what it truly is, and embark upon a voyage of adventure long, and hard to see evolve, until you are indeed the star you’ve always held so dear, sight unseen, until you shine so brightly once again.
