What of the lonely bird that sings in yonder tree? Why does it spend the day in song when not a soul will be its own companion? Why does it bother so to give to others with no thought of self below?
We do not often stop to think of others as we pass, so wrapped up in troubles personal we fail to reach out to another in their time of need. But it only takes a minute to glance a smile, and bring a little joy to another soul, and in that moment one is lifted just a little more towards a higher state of joy oneself for giving selflessly.
And it is at these times, when perhaps one is at a low ebb that the effort to externalise is mighty. But rewards are greater when the stakes are high, and giving when one is also in need of a lift is an ultimate service to oneself.
Do not look the other way when passing a stranger in the street. Take to song and spread a message true and strong of beat. And you will be surprised to hear a chorus from on high accompany you in that hour to ease the burden nigh.
Leadership takes courage, and asks for selfless deeds. It also requires faith in the greater picture, a higher need. But once decisions have been made, and initiative is shown, the benefits come cascading rapidly for one and all.
So when you hear a chirping song, stop and linger awhile. Seek amongst the thorns the rose of scented note, and smile a thank you of appreciation for its pain, and join with it as one so each of you may gain the peace and joy of friendship in refrain.
