Looming large on centre stage
The actor takes a stand,
Tall and confident, striking,
Everything needed comes to hand.

Enrobed in garments befitting
A leader under lights,
With words to speak, so powerful,
To echo long into the darkened nights.

But all the prancing and the dancing
Do not dispel the truth at all,
The play, an act, a scene,
Will end, and curtain fall.

Underneath the cloak a dagger,
Behind the mask a tear or rage,
Life is not what is enacted;
It is not at all about the stage.

Take your image lightly,
Reflect on the inner need,
Shine brightly for yourself at last,
A beacon, eternally thus freed.
