Day 19
Identification with the self that lies beyond the physical body and the mind takes practise. Initially the concept is difficult to grasp. And there may well come a time when a crisis point is reached, wherein all of one’s previous notions of oneself are shattered, leaving a profound emptiness.
However this dark moment is, in fact, cause for celebration. For it is not until one understands the significance of the true self, from first hand experience, that one can begin to know oneself.
If there is nothing in the physical world with which one can identify, and yet one can confidently say “I am”, then one may safely acknowledge the first, and most difficult, step towards self realisation.
An odd sense of peace prevails at this time, an understanding that one can neither be created nor destroyed. A subtle power of eternal bliss begins to dawn; but one may not register it immediately because it is a new sensation, unlike anything previously known.
