Expectation is dangerous because it sets one up for a fall, and disappoints at every turn, denying one the true enjoyment which would have otherwise been derived from an event. Expectation likewise causes impatience because it sets a time and place for a desired outcome, rather than allowing the natural course of events to flow.

It is far better, more mature, to let go of all personal gain, and participate fully in the present moment without refrain. A different benefit may ensue, but whatever the outcome there, a more joyful and peaceful existence is assured.

When faith is embraced there is no fear, and all that is due will be received. Therefore, be not so concerned with the future, and wrapped up in its unfoldment. Instead, stand free and observe the miracle of life unravel before you in unexpected ways. You will thus avoid disappointment and confusion if you can accept that not all outcomes are within your control. And it is just as well that this is so, otherwise who knows where greed would go, and how far one would stray from the destined course.

Fear takes many forms, and false expectation is but one. Nip such a disease of the heart and mind in the bud and you shall be free to marvel at the true displays of happy coincidence that make your life complete.

Be not so concerned with taking for the self. Give of all you can so that you rise above the form life, dense and cold, to be with your soul of love and wisdom flow. Without exception, an absence of expectation will reward you beyond your wildest dreams.
