Is there something in your heart you’ve always longed to do? Do you think about it often with a fondness new? And do you dismiss this thought to make way for other things, the mundane acts of life that cry out for you to sing, that keep you running from the joy you know this newfound activity would bring?

What is it that keeps us from ourselves? Why should this be so?

We are taught to do as we are told, and as a child this conforming keeps us warm and fed and clothed. But as we grow there is no-one to do those things for us to reinforce that we are loved. We are expected to run this race of life alone, in the company of strangers we call our lover and our friends. Family plays its part so too, but conditionally to the end.

So we do what others do. We follow blindly without questioning the road ahead. We live our lives as expected by our peers, and relegate our dreams to last place in a hierarchy of so-called important day to day objectives.

To grow up and be the adult of your dreams requires an inordinate effort of will. And there will be no-one to help you here except perhaps a stranger passing by who knows you not at all, but sees you begin to fly and encourages you all the more because he doesn’t know your past, and has no connection with it there.

But the benefit will far out way the difficulties you will meet, and sacrifices made will contribute to a far greater feat of accomplishment. You will be truly free to embrace the real you, and make something of your life. And slowly, more people will begin to take the plunge, until we will meet once again, united as one.
