The end of civilisation is often talked about, but rarely is it understood for what it truly means. Most subjects which speculate on the future are discussed with trepidation, and fear of the unknown generates over zealous remarks which have no basis in fact.

In reality, the end of our civilisation, as it stands today, is largely guaranteed. Much depends upon the free will of the individual, but even so there will come a time when our habitation of this planet will end, and no more will we set foot upon this land.

But to infer that this will mean the end of life is furthest from the truth. And to assume that this small planet, earth, is the only space in all the universe where life exists, merely because we have yet to prove to ourselves that we are not alone, is foolishness beyond doubt.

It is widely known that our senses have a limited capability, and that there exists far greater spectrums which we cannot detect without technical intervention. And it is also acknowledged that we are advancing technologically at an increasingly rapid rate, such that instruments of detection will improve no end.

So we can deduce that we know very little of our place in the universe. And since we cannot prove that there is only one life to live, or that there is only one planet to inhabit, or only one vehicle to embody, we must remain open to other possibilities if we are to remain humble in the greater scheme of things.

Arrogance is the only word to describe the mumblings of one convinced otherwise. There is no proof which holds true to indicate that we are doomed. Keep an open mind and you will, one day soon, know beyond all doubt, the future for our race.
