23 April
When, in all the times that pass, a moment flashes by and rekindles something of a memory of a bygone day, in that moment rests all that has ’till now sought to mould and shape the you you’ve come to know.
For what is life but a vast collection of memories so stored, and sorted randomly according to recollections old? And how are we to judge our time upon this earth, if not for clues and signposts, past, to guide us on our path?
Memory is not served by lingering in the past. But it can serve us well if we, ourselves, are masters to this end. It gives perspectives fresh and changeable as the wind as successive years approach and bring with them ways to further bend the truth of past events, to distort them somewhat more. And in the altering, so slight, are these memories kept alive and serving purposes anew at every stage.
So keep up vital fluids, and study of the new, and in so doing nourish mind and body too, so that in years to come, your memories will serve as friends, and you will have all faculty to utilise well to the end.
What a wonderful escape to live this life so free, to formulate the truths you know based on who you are to be, and shaped by history. Do not underestimate the significance of the past, but let it not bind you, nor keep you from your future plans.
Take a leaf from nature’s book, and heal the scars of old, and welcome them with a visage wise and bold. Keep faithful to your journey, and guard your past as gold.
