16 March
Scars are physical reminders of the pains we have endured, but more than that they represent survival and emergence from a past when lessons learned are put behind us for the last.
Count your unique markings, be thorough and complete, and notice how well you know your physical instrument from head to feet. Now look from the outside, in, and see what makes you, you. What is there that gives you differentiation from all others too?
Oftentimes we do regret mistakes and wish that things weren’t so, misinterpreting the ugly for a punishment below. But, in truth, what makes each one of us different from the rest are the blemishes we have earned through troubled times, however oddly blessed.
So do not dismiss your scars, nor remove them with such haste. Do not do away with facial records of your time spent in this place, for each of us has imperfections, and none can be removed simply by a knife or powder which hides the truth from view.
Love your every blemish, appreciate your growth, see the love and wisdom so displayed to mark the road you have travelled up ’till now, a journey that has brought you here, to this very space and time, and allowed you to experience, in your unique rhyme, the life you have chosen, so that you may glean every skerrick of the moment to share with others free.
Perfect in your imperfection is the oft heard cry; live and breathe this as you journey onward in the night. And fly your flag in celebration of another day dawning, as it does, purely because of yesterday.
