Patience is a word not often understood, and much attention is paid to using it to express an ideal state, but little, in return, is done to practice it in truth.

For in this life one looks to others for examples there, of how to live one’s life, and for qualities to share. And patience is not taught by elders who, themselves, have known that life consists of getting now whatever one desires.

So how do we impart this noble trait in others when we, ourselves, know not of what it means?

In truth, it is indeed noble and joyful to thus know exactly how it feels to let all that rushes go quietly past, without a flutter of one’s heart in response. And it is not, as often pondered, a lack, of something lost, but instead so much is gained to help one onward go, freed of all the trappings which otherwise serve to stall one’s progress on the path.

So take time out from earthly pleasure and treadmills filled with want, and take the time to be at peace, and want for naught. Take a holiday away from all you thus expect, of adventures filled with activities which merely thus distract you from yourself, and all you know is true and real in this your life.

Can you sit, and merely be, observing your surrounds, saying no to opportunities that present on grounds that you should be so busy that you lose the single most important aspect of yourself, and miss the goal post?

Patience, then, is quite an art and brings good fortune too, for it stops one in one’s tracks and allows for contemplation on all the things which are important, those dreams you’ve hid from view, and gives an indication of where you need now move.
