Forgiveness is a mighty ask,
For a nation proud to be,
Standing solely, thus alone,
Fighting to be free.
But when one thus forgives another,
It is oneself who wins,
Because the strife without
Is brought to rest within.
It is one thing to stand so proud,
And oftentimes, so well,
But occasion warrants compromise
So all may fortune tell
Of a future when the world is One,
And thus a microcosm small,
Of a larger Universe,
Where peace is willed, so tall.
