Something special transpires when the mass of men, all at once, agree and act in unison. It may be idolisation of a hero, a movie star of worldwide fame; individuals, for the period, lose themselves in a frenzied externalisation of global identification with the specific qualities this idol may possess.
The results of such a reaction can be most positive if the idol displays fine leadership and strong principles which benefit all. But, just as likely, such a person may use their persuasive power to influence the majority negatively. Either way it is clear that the humble dweller of life is always seeking a greater vision and meaning amidst the strife.
Guidance is oftentimes sought externally. We are taught as youngsters to believe that what our parents and caregivers and teachers tell us is the truth. As we mature, what a rude shock it is to then be opened to the possibility that there are many truths, and not just one. How can this be so?
Of course, there are always the universal truths which hold true throughout eternity. But in terms of living in the everyday, practically, there are many options for truth which hold sway.
Essentially, that which is just for now is most important, so long as it does not infringe upon another’s truth. And this brings us to self empowerment, and the trusting in oneself to know the path to take to become all that one can be; and in so doing, the idol of one’s youth becomes oneself, so free.
Imagine a world where all folk were able to see the time when each of us would be a master of life, and hero of joy and peace and prosperity.
